Genious Dog

Miklos started training area search in the forest in september-october 2003. At first, when I sent him forwards to search the area, he took off and ran so far I could no longer see him. But soon he learned to take a distance of about 60 meters. Then we had some problems as he thought he knows better... When I sent him against the wind, he only ran 15-20 meters ahead and then a little from side-to-side and then came back to me: nobody there. And the area WAS empty. But nevertheless he needs to take the distance of 50-60 meters.
Once Miklos catches a human smell in the air, he will not give up until he finds the person.

In spring 2005 we started training tracking and Miklos got all confused. He did not at all work when training search in the woods. All summer long we did different kinds of exercises, but nothing seemed to really solve the problem. Until in September Majka screwed up the Ruins B-test. Weirdly, since then Miklos has worked very well in the forest search again!

October 8, 2005 we passed the national Area Search Trial with result: Excellent.
We have passed this trial also in 2007 and 2008.

April 8, 2007 we passed the IPOR Area Search A-Trial with result:
2nd prize, 3rd place, RH-FLA.

Summer 2005

Autumn 2003, little Miklos listening to me

Miklos usually barks in "invitation to play position" or lying down, tail wagging!

In September 2005 & May 2006 we took part in a SAR Dog Show in Helsinki together with some other dogs. We performed obedience, searching items, alarming a found victim as well as search in a near-by forest. It was a good experience and Miklos worked well all day long. There were 5 shows, once an hour.
